Cursor pricing: what you actually pay

checked 2026-11-02
The short answer

The subscription is the entry ticket, not the bill. Grok usage is included per tier; third-party models are billed at API list price on top. Budget from token consumption, then choose the tier that covers the included Grok usage you actually use.

What each tier includes

Free is a limited pool of agent and chat requests. Plus at $8 covers Grok models only. Premium at $30 gives 4x the Plus usage and unlocks third-party models at API list price, plus cloud agents and code review. Super at $100 is 15x Plus with priority access; Ultra at $200 is 50x with earliest access to new models.

Teams at $30/user/month pools usage across seats and adds centralized billing, usage analytics, SSO and audit logs. Enterprise adds spend controls, auto-run/browser/network controls and SCIM.

Where the cost actually escalates

Two levers: how much quota your tier includes, and how much third-party model usage you push through it. The second one is invisible on the pricing page and shows up as a separate usage charge.

The practical rule: if your team is Grok-first, the tier ladder is a straightforward capacity purchase. If your team insists on other frontier models for most tasks, treat the subscription as a platform fee and budget the token bill separately.

Three team shapes

Solo developer, light usage: Free, or Plus at $8 if the request cap gets in the way. Under $10/month.

Five-person product team, mixed models: Teams at $30/user is about $150/month, plus whatever third-party usage you generate. Expect the usage line to be the larger of the two within a few months.

Twenty-person org with compliance requirements: Enterprise. The controls (spend limits, auto-run policy, audit logs, SCIM) are the reason to be here, not the quota.

Hidden costs to check before renewing

Third-party model usage is billed separately from the monthly price — this is stated on the pricing page and is the most common source of surprise.

Taxes and VAT are excluded from the listed prices. Annual versus monthly billing changes the effective rate. And cancellation must happen at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge.

FAQ

Is there a free plan?

Yes, with a limited pool of agent and chat requests. It is enough to evaluate the workflow, not enough for daily work.

What does Teams add over Premium?

Pooled usage across seats, centralized billing and administration, usage analytics, team-wide privacy settings, custom chat data retention, SAML/OIDC SSO, and mixed seat types. It is $30 per user per month.

Are third-party models included?

No. They are available on Premium and above but billed separately at API list price, on top of the subscription.
