ALTERNATIVES
Lovable alternatives: who gets the code at the end
Pick v0 if the output is React you will own in an existing repo. Pick Bolt if you need a runnable app with real dependencies today. Pick Replit if you also want hosting and a database in the same place. The differentiator is export quality, not generation quality.
The question that separates them
Every builder in this list will produce a working screen from a prompt. What differs is what happens on day thirty, when you need to change a data model and the generator is no longer the right tool.
Builders that hand you a normal repository survive that moment. Builders that keep the source in their own runtime turn it into a migration.
What each one gives back
v0 returns components, which is the lowest-friction export if your destination is an existing frontend. Bolt returns a project with dependencies and a dev server. Replit returns a workspace you can host where it runs. Firebase Studio returns a Google Cloud project.
Lovable exports to GitHub, which on paper is the cleanest exit — but the generated code's quality when read by a human is the variable nobody benchmarks.
What none of them solve
State, auth, migrations and tests. Every builder here produces a working demo faster than a team can, and none produces the boring parts that decide whether software survives. Budget for that work explicitly, or the prototype becomes the product by accident.

FAQ
Do these tools run code on my machine?
No. Generation and execution happen in hosted environments, so the local risk is near zero and the vendor risk is correspondingly higher — your source sits with them until you export.
Which is best for someone who does not code?
Whichever one you can host without touching a terminal. Replit has the shortest path from prompt to a deployed URL; the others assume you will eventually take the code somewhere else.
